Mark Milstein: Your brain works on things in the background. He says that's why dreams are so great is because it's one of the only time during our day where our brain takes a break from thinking about things all day long. We oftentimes get stuck in this pattern of thinking where we're doing work, but you're checking a sports score or you're Checking a vacation website and just separating out the boundaries and saying nothing but focus seems to be not only lessening burnout, he says.
Brain researcher Marc Milstein, Ph.D. joins today's conversation to discuss The Age-Proof Brain: New Strategies to Improve Memory, Protect Immunity, and Fight Off Dementia. Dr. Milstein and James discuss good brain habits, the link between gut health and brain health, and strategies to lower your risk for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Additional topics include:
- Brain shrinkage after age 40 (00:06:43)
