What Must Survive?

The key point here is that how you define yourself determines what must survive. Anything that's part of your identity or self concept automatically becomes important and must be survived. So really the way that you use rationality is whatever serves your survival is what you call rational. But i don't wan to digress too much on that. Tata for you rationalists out there.
