Sometimes the best theology is found on the back deck. A small bird on a simple patrol caught the attention of a friend, and in that moment the truth came to light. That mockingbird, later named βJabez,β seemed to be extending its reach, enlarging its territory. And just like that, weβre reminded of a prayer tucked quietly into 1 Chronicles 4:10, a prayer that asks God not for riches or comfort, but for blessing, for growth, for protection, and for freedom from pain. But itβs not self-centered, itβs a vision of hope in the face of the worldβs curse, a longing that our lives might be vessels of blessing for others.
