Football Is a Response to the Inevitability of Violence
The game as we know it is a response to the incredible brutality of football. Teddy Roosevelt summoned the various members of the Harvard and Yale to discuss, you know, what could be done about football because players were literally dying on the field. It's not true to say that we can't do anything. Something has been done before, but it's hard to imagine that kind of radical change would take place.
