The Importance of Reconstruction in Memory
Biological memory is reconstructive. There aren't any full memories stored in specific locations, like ther are in a computer. Many people still don't appreciate the din mic nature of memory or its implications. We spend a few minutes focusing on the thin layer that covers the cerebral hemispheres. This is what distinguishes mammalian brains from other vertebrates. And many scientists believe that it is or massive neo cortex that makes us so smart.
