Using Chain Saws in Childbirth
The osteotome nd was a hand cranked version of this that essentially had an infinite chain loop on it. You'd crank it, and you would have it essentially would function like a little chain saw. The second was devised by scottish surgeon james jeffrey as a means of removing diseased joints without having to result in full limb removal. It actually did see a fair amount of use. A version was even used in neuro surgy surgery.
