The Relationship Between Boredom and the Imagination

Boredom is now an unnatural state for us, because we've engineered our society so that people will never be bored. We have to have this mental discipline, which is almost like a meditative discipline, to turn off. And i think at the difference with humans is that somehow the irrepressible imagination, an energy that had to has to go somewhere. When there is boredom, crazy things happen. Somebody discovers fire, somebody invents writing, and it just keeps going. It's not enyn external stuff that is my barrier from getting into deeper work. It's all the things flashing in my own brain. But i can't let go if i can stop thinking about everything
