The Republic is a test to see how integrated you are into French life. You have to answer questions about the history of modern France and democracy. And also weird questions, such as: Are your neighbors French? Have you ever been in contact with any controlled or illegal substances? It's like when you come to the airport and they ask you security questions,. They're just so easy to get them right. But for lots of people who've just arrived in France, that's not true.
To qualify for British citizenship, one of the requirements is to pass the "Life in the UK" test. Questions cover things like British history, British life & culture, British politics, British geography and principles of modern British life. What do you think? Can you pass the test? Join me as I test online English teacher Cara Leopold. How much does she know about her own country of origin? What can you learn about Britain? What IS Britain anyway? Find out in this episode!
