The Impact of Risk and Return on Small Cap Value

The S&P 500, average 15-year standard deviation, 18.2%, small cap value 29%. There's a big disparity in annual return on the upside and on the downside. The worst 12 month experience over that 1928 to 2018 period was a loss of 43% for the S&P500 versus 55, almost 56% for small cap value.
