Identifying Epistemic Rights as a Class of Rights

The language of rights has a distinctive rhetorical force that, when used appropriately, is invaluable for the advancement and protection of ourselves in our communities. It allows us to more accurately describe and better understand something which i think is very much contained within and influencing our moral actions as well as our legal frameworks. Just identifying epistemic rights violations and the harms that are caused by them can allow us to regulate and start to legislate where we think that doing so is going to protect individuals. Rights constitute a basis and a mechanism for holding those responsible for harms and wrongs to account on legal and moral grounds.
