The Different Sites of Artery Cannulation
The radial artery is the most commonly accessed, really because of ease of access from a geographic standpoint and typically for actually placing the line. The Allen's test can be an important component of your physical exam if you find it meaningful. Another potential site with specific complications would be the brachial artery. A longer catheter is better as it's a deeper vascular structure,. ultrasound can potentially be helpful in placing a brachial arteries A-line.
