The internet was supposed to be as connecting everyone, and instead we have universe blackmail of forcing people to behave in certain ways. So that's stupid. But then the other thing is that even if the mind control to get somebody to buy a particular soap is pretty sketchy, what it does do is it puts everybody into this behavior modification regime. It has all these side effects that makes everybody a bit more vain and crazy and stupidn and contentious and paranoid. That does happen. And because of thatititit becomes is giant invitation to the worst actors in the world to try to go in and sabotage other people's societies.
