How to Maximize Time in the US
To qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion, you need to be outside the US. To trigger that, you have to basically meet one of two tests: physical presence or how connected are you to this other place? It's kind of more of a subjective test. If your goal is maximizing time in the US, then that's what you should do.
