The Importance of Sleep in Youth
Sleep hygiene is important and it really makes a huge difference in the mood. When people are sleep deprived, they have increased HPA access or stress response system activity. There's also research out there that sleep deprivation leads to increased systemic inflammation. Increased major depression is directly associated with lack of sufficient quality sleep as is impaired emotional working memory and accuracy.
