Is There a Background Uncertainty in the Universe?

The way to think about it is like, you know, you're getting lots of expected value from reducing extinction risks. But if the scale of your background uncertainty, say, tend the fifteenth or ten to the twentieth human lives, then you're forced to regard the future existence of humanity as at least good - but that's a lot less than ten to the 50. And so, in fact, the amount of uncertainty about the goodness of the future of all the universe is larger even than what we can directly effect by guiding earth, originating life. Yes, i think that's totally plausible.
