What Does the Law Mean by Equal Protection?

Equal protection means that all people should be treated equally at all times. But there are certain laws where everyone, regardless of age, race, sex, et cetera, is treated equally - but not an every law. If you looked at equal protect under the law, meaning the law just treats everyone equally at all time, then allotted these distinctions that we take for granted, men's and women's rest rooms, a men's and female sports would be suspect under the law.
