The Importance of Family Dinners
The family dinner is not important, it's essential. The simple act of blessing the food before the meal and giving thanks for the meal afterwards transforms an essentially selfish act of eating into a selfless act of gratitude. We Catholics should not only bring back the family dinner, but we have the ability to elevate it by sacralizing or sanctifying it. So by all means, buy local products, land a vegetable garden, and disdain modern agri-business, but above all, eat with the intention to make the harvest worth it.
