Trump's Coup - Why Didn't That Work?
Trump's coup failed because he had not been able in the four years he was there to sufficiently complete what we call autocratic capture. There are 25,000 troops on the streets of the US Capitol, 25,000 armed national guardsmen. Trump tried to pressure his vice president, Mike Pence, into refusing to certify the results of the election. He didn't want to be responsible for a coup attempt that would end American democracy.
