The Oldest Question in Political Philosophy Is Who Should Rule
I think the oldest question really in political philosophy is actually who should rule. And over the years, we've eventually come to this very odd idea that is a product of modernity. You can attack it on the basis of what if the people are no good? We have this odd bias that we will come up with some sort of system for doing things that will overcome all of the frailties of humanity even though it's run by humanity. It's very odd. So to overcome late capitalism state ideology, I mean, I would agree, okay, the Marxists are right to some extent that capitalism has internal contradictions that will have to be resolved in some way or another.
