Is There a Path to Grammaticalization?
There's a path to grammaticalization there in that the converb forms could start to get attached to the auxiliary forms. And it's entirely possible that some things that are, I should have made note of this. It would not surprise me to see languages where it says, oh, we've got converbs andoh here's this kind of complex looking progressive. That was originally a converb plus a verb that's just become fossilized over time.
