The Importance of Self-Compassion in Chronic Pain
The first step of self-compassion is to be mindful that you're in pain, either emotional pain or physical pain. To be able to relate to that pain with kind of an accepting stance instead of fighting it and resisting it just makes things worse. We want the heart to be involved as well, not just our awareness. And passion really reminds us that, hey, this is life, this is human, it doesn't mean we care any less about our suffering.
