The Role of Reward in Learning
The next assumption is that the brain also does reinforcement learning. There are like two aspects to it one is a bunch of very simple hardwired genomically specified reward circuits over stuff like your sensory experiences or simple correlates of good sensory experiences. There's also what you might call like a learned value function which is sort of like what behavioral science calls like learned reinforcers so if your environment contains like sensory correlates of something that produces reward then those things eventually become reinforcers themselves.
