What Is the Significance of the Angels?

Matthew tells the story in such a manner that it really highlights these echoes to Isaac. Jesus is the new Isaac who will be offered up for atonement for sin. And so what was it that stopped the sacrifice of Isaac? An angel came, right? And so Jesus said, I'm greater than Isaac. So there are lots of things going on here.
