The Importance of Having a Boss
Nelson: I've had such tremendous luck. The chance to serve in government was fantastic, even though I was a little worried about having a boss because professors don't have any bosses. My boss was Madeline Albright. And she was extremely supportive and took a lot of my advice quite seriously. But there were issues, especially related to human rights, that I was very pessimistic we'd make much progress on. So I would say, you know, it's really a matter of domestic politics.
