The Rise of Student Absentees From the Classroom
One quarter of participating 13 year olds, they had missed more than two days of school over the previous month up from about one sixth of respondents, just six, three years ago. The number saying they'd missed 3 to four days rose from 11% to 15%. And the proportion who said they'd been absent five days or more doubled from five to 10%. So all these kids are missing more and more instruction time. One of the reasons they are is because they got out of the habit of going to school. They were told pretty explicitly by all of these policies that school didn't actually matter. School told you that it was dispensable and they believed school. Four days online. One day
