I think it's one of the great strengths of traditional judaism that, like transcendence infiltrates your whole everyday life. You've got words of tora nailed to every doorway and you say a blessing every time you take a drink of water. It is twisted through everything, this consciousness of god, or consciousness of ethical imperatives all around us. And that being missing is the thing that dismays me most about a lot of judaism, that it's just a thing on saturdays. It's just so not ambitious, you know.
