Psychic functioning is held to be a set of weak natural abilities that are part of human nature. The church has no teaching on whether psychic abilities exist one way or the other. Even though it's not a matter of church teaching, there is a history of important Catholic thinkers believing in psychic abilities including Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas.
