The state is at some level made out of us. How can you state that doesn't just replicate the thing it's trying to solve? There are two kinds of answers to that challenge, i'll call the liberal answer and the other one the mar response. The liberal answer goes like this: Let's focus on the state as a kind of machine. And let's see if we can make it removed from everyday injustices by being something a little bit more rule based,. A little bit more mechanical, if necessary. One word for it would be neutral.
