In cosin, you sign the shaws. You don't have to trust and whoever sign the shaw, you just need to have a signature that corresponds to the shah. So in this case, my understanding of cosin is that you are signing the sha of outputs. This tims back into the reproducibility discussion that we had a little bit earlier. If you have building structiors yielding a ball with some arbitrary softwer, there's a fairly large chance that the softwer is actually not bitfor id reproducible.
