It doesn't involve some kind of consciousness or foresight on the part of non human organisms, mostly microbes. And occasionally it's cause to extraordinary tipping points where the atmospheric composition and the climate are completely trans formed. The big question for us is whether we're te start one of those tipping points or revolutions. If we are, are we going to be still here at the end of it to enjoy the consequences? Yes.
