Shuggy Bane: A Triptych of My Own
Shuggy Bane takes place in the 70s and 80s as Thatcher government comes around. The characters there cannot quite believe the horrors that are coming to Glasgow. But then, with my next novel, Young Mango, it's set in the 90s when all this has happened. And so what I'm doing with my third novel, which I can't talk too much about, is then following that on 10 years later. We're looking at a very private life of this young man being queer in Scotland but also looking at the political landscape behind him.
