My mother had seen a lot, she'd experienced a lot and there was an inner strength in her that she hadn't really tapped into for many years. She drew from those quiet moments when she was contemplating what was happening to her family. The idea is that if you have a little bit of yam, some rice, you know, a grasshopper or whatever, you only eat half, and then you save the rest for the next day. Sounds counter intuitive, but never ever finish, because you don't know when your next meal is coming. And so my mother came up with it - she literally brings herself to a bookstore and decides that there's going to be a family
