H henry morgan toller is an absolutely fascinating figure. He event became a doctor with a practice in montreal, and then he began providing women with abortions in a way that broke the 19 69 law. The 19 69 law was very clear that a legal ortion could only be conducted in a hospital,. So by operating on women and providing them with abortions in his montreal clinic, he was breaking the law because the woman was not going through these required legal sas a result of his work, he was arrested. And eventually these court cases made their way to the supreme court of canada in january 19 88. Once this law was struck down, there was no federal law
