Jocker def, jam-asters. And once somebody says, the mind can be the biggest trap or the biggest liberator. The more you grow, the more you realize how true that is. Left to its own, the mind is a trap. Why? The default tendency is that the mind gets distracted by whatever is loudest. Whatever has the most energy, whatever is the brightest, the loudest, whatever, the mind gets distracted. If a loud sound happens, you're not listening to me. You're listening to a loud sound. Period. That's just what's going to happen. If a bright light all of a sudden shines, all your attention is going to the right light. The mind is going to get distracted by whatever is the strongest, the loudest. So then why is mind by default a trap? Because the loudest thing going on inside of your mind is what's called your personal mind. What does that mean? Your mind, in truth, someday you'll understand the Buddha said this thing called empty mind. That is what mind is. It's like a computer that has no programming. It's not stupid. It's brilliant. But it has not been programmed. It doesn't have a way of behaving, but it's capable of behaving anyway. That's empty mind. What happens is the body is rather loud. If you haven't noticed, all right? It either has drives or it has pains or it has pleasures. It's a very gross thing, if you will. It's very grounded and it has animalistic tendencies. Of course it did. It evolved from the animal. Therefore it has all those tendencies. It has a nervous system. A nervous system is very funny. If you have pain, I'm not laughing at pain. People have pain. We all have pain. Some people have a lot of pain, so let's have compassion. But pain is funny. You're just sitting there minding your own business and all of a sudden, somebody screams and you're going to pay attention, aren't you? That's why it's screamed. You're not your body.
