The Reversal of History in the Scriptures

Elijah and Elijah are leaving the northern kingdom, which has become canonized. They're going in reverse back to the days of Joshua. The same verb for struck is used here in this verse. Moses struck the Nile, Elijah strikes the Jordan River. Parting the Red Sea, parting the Jordan, and now the Jordan is parted again.
