How I Entered Into the World of Zoning Reform
Yemby: I've always had a deep love for cities. The more I understood the way our cities are actually planned the more I realized that policies like zoning were just not reflecting the values and planning goals that we have today. Yemby worked as a city planner in New York City which was an incredible experience. He eventually felt that he wanted to write a book on zoning. And there really wasn't a great go-to text that sort of laid it out and summarized the issues, where we might go from here. That's what I was trying to do with arbitrary lines.
