When Hill Pop first started making records, they didn't yet have a sampler. They used beat boxes and two turntables to make the beats. A DJ on Staten Island named Philly Phil came out with a 606 drum machine that changed the game. But then Dr. Rock of the 4CMDs or 4CMCs bought a 707 for $1,500. That's when it really took off.
