Financial repression refers to a strategy where you keep your interest rates intentionally below the rate of inflation. Every time you issue a bond you are essentially taking 4% away from the saver. The last time was something like this was practiced was in the 1940s during the second world war. And maybe some version of world war 3 has already started so the geopolitical angle has also come in.
