The Importance of Mastery
There is a book called the top five or top six regrets of the dying. I wish I had done what I wanted to do, not what the world told me to do. That's self-direction in a much broader, you know, a much broader level. The single biggest day-to-day motivator on the job is making progress and meaningful work. Our organizations aren't equipped to help people get better at stuff,. Help them see their progress, help them see improvement.
