The Problem With Utilitarianism
In philosophical terms, I think that there actually is a philosophy that accords with this and that philosophy has a terrible name known as utilitarianism. It essentially incorporates the golden rule - one person's well-being is not ultimately any more important than anybody else's. And you put those two ideas together and what you basically get is a philosophical solution to the problems of the modern world. But it feels like it's asking us to do things that are wrong to betray certain ideals. We may need to shift into manual mode.
