FLIT3ITD Mutation - A New Approach to AML Therapy

When FLIT3ITD paired with pediatric predominant NUP98 fusion, the mechanisms of transformation were distinct from when it paired with adult predominant mutations. This research also has potential therapeutic implications. It identified a Type 1 interferon sensitivity in NUP98 translocated AML that may be actionable therapeutically. The responsiveness of AML to tyrosine kinase inhibitors and emerging therapies may need to be reconsidered in terms of the FLIT3 ITD mutant subtype.
