Is There a Difference Between Over 50 and Over 50?
The age at which b s o can be safely performed without undue increased mortality wasn't t age 65 that we've been quoting for the last 17 years. But there's a big catch here between over 50 and under 50. The absolute mortality risk difference from cardio vascular disease in those undergoing historectomy and bsso who don't use esrogen therapy before the age 50, compared to those who have historectome alone, is ten % different.
