The German Invasion of Poland in 1939

The name September campaign is one of two names for the German invasion of 1939 that seems to be in common usage in Poland. It generally feels more appropriate, at least to me, to use the name given to the events by the victims of German aggression rather than thename given to it by the Germans themselves. The nation of Poland was created and led by a government in Warsaw after the First World War. They contained territories that had previously been part of the Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires. In 1921, Poland would look further afield for allies when an alliance was signed with France.
