The Repetition Compulsion
Patients seek out partners with whom they can replay the initial drama. Good mother disappears to be replaced by bad mother who is excite, rejecting and persecuting. So here's the repetition compulsion. Seeing this pattern and seeing how one is playing it out is in itself, therapeutic.
