The Hunger for Enchantment and Presence
There's a sort of promise that idealism about like there is something real in the world away from modernity has prompted us to become alien to one another. I think at its worst, those impulses sort of go to very, very dark places and they turn into kind of very racially charged forms of nationalism. But at their best or let's say what you can understand as a real impulse which gets wrongly put down the wrong rabbit holes is like there is a hunger for enchantment and presence and immediacy. And this desire for recovery is I think enough of a hunger and I'd say a widely held hunger.
