Effective Altruism, Earn to Give, Effect to Utilitarianism
Doing effective altruism well depends on knowing a lot of things. For example, do i expect that my donations now are going to be worth more or in the future? That's a really valid question if someone's like a short termist. I don't see those as reasons you shouldn't take the utila turn approach. But there is human bias in helping people who aren't even alive yet. And so i strongly suspect that there's a real bias towards immediate donations.
