Introduction

When is a language a language? What constitutes a language? And I sort of am thinking about this question as I'm heading off on my trip to Denmark, Sweden, and Poland. The Danes have an easier time understanding the Swedes and the Norwegians. But essentially, the vocabulary is very, very similar. Yet they are recognized as separate languages.
