The Double Slit Experiment in Quantum Physics
In 1923, a physicist by the name of De Broglie reasoned that if light could behave like particles and waves in different circumstances, maybe electrons can too. Using this basic idea, he constructed what is called the standing wave model of electrons around about the nucleus. This formed the basis for subsequent quantum mechanical theories of the atom.
