The real purpose of an annuity is to provide guaranteed income for a period. You should be considering spias, dias and megas basically. Spias are single premium immediate annuities. Dias are the same product except they start paying later. Megas are more like just CD products. One of those things that people like to talk about because it sounds sophisticated but it's really not very interesting at all.
