Hang on Sloopie by the McCoys
Andrew Oldham and Tony Colder wanted to get rid of Arden. They'd started up their own record label, Immediate Records in July 1965. The first batch of three records contained one big hit, Hang on Sloopie by the McCoys. That it went to number 4 didn't make up for the fact that the first the band heard of the record coming out at all was when they heard it on the radio.
